Srinagar Video Clips - Betab Valley

Videos will help you plan your trip by giving you an idea of the things you can see in Srinagar, Kashmir during your holiday in India. Here are a few short video clips of some of the most popular tourist attractions in Srinagar.

Video - Driving to Betaab Valley from Pahalgam - Winding roads & No Safety barrier!

Betaab Valley is located about 15 kilometers from the city of Pahalgam. To visit Betaab Valley, tourists can either ride a pony or take a taxi. The bulk of the tourists visiting, opt for a taxi, we did. Those who make a day trip from Srinagar to visit Pahalgam and Betaab Valley, should keep in mind that taxis from other areas such as those hired in Srinagar, are not allowed to go to Betaab Valley. This was done to protect the local taxi owners. This video shows the drive you can expect when you drive up to Betaab Valley from Pahalgam. The drive is through winding roads with no safety barrier. At times it feels the car is just about to go over a cliff! but it is exiting and worth it. Inside Betaab Valley - Location where some Bollywood movies have been filmed According to our guide, Betaab Valley was earlier called Hajan Valley.  A few Hindi films have been shot in this scenic valley and after the shooting of the film Betaab, the name of the valley was changed to Betaab Valley. This place is indeed beautiful and worth seeing. Go prepared with food, as there is not much to find there, yet you can spend the entire day there enjoying the surroundings. We found the odd sales persons inside the valley selling shawls which they insist are Pashmina. They expect everyone to bargain and start by pricing everything they show about 500 % higher! If you show the slightest interest in seeing what they are selling, be prepared for these guys to follow you for the duration of your visit. Enjoy the scenery and do your shopping at an authorized store.

Dal Lake Srinagar - Night View video of Dal Lake

Video showing Dal Lake at night. A view that one must actually see to appreciate! The reflection of the houseboat lights in the water add to the scenic beauty of Dal Lake at night. Shikara rides slow down around 8 PM and so do the Shikara rental prices. Normally a Rupee 400 per hour rate is cut to almost half in an effort to get business. While Dal Lake has a natural beauty due to its location and surroundings, it is not safe for swimming. The lake needs cleaning, being one of the main tourist attractions it's surprising that this has still not been done yet.
