Dal Lake is where bulk of the houseboats are located for tourists to rent and stay in. The other location is called Nagin ( Nigeen) lake Shikara (wooden boats) are lined up at different locations of Dal Lake for tourists to rent. A one hour Shikara ride costs Rupees 400. Those who choose to stay in a houseboat also need to get a Shikara to take them back and forth from the boat to the shore, this normally takes only a few minutes. Kashmir is one of the three popular Mughal gardens One of the three popular Mughal gardens in Srinagar, Kashmir India. Built in 1632 by the Mughal governor. This garden is also a terrace garden and is famous for its spring water that some people believe has many medical benefits. Indian tourists who have heard about this can be seen taking filling bottles of water to take with them. We found that some gardeners working on the garden grounds also trying to sell seeds for various plants. Foreign tourists should realize that they may not be able to take plant seeds back home with them due to customs restrictions in some countries. The beauty of the gardens is enhance by the famous Zabarwan mountain range that is behind the gardens. The entry fee for the garden is ten Indian Rupees.

Driving along Dal Lake in Kashmir

Boulevard road runs adjacent to Dal Lake. This video is taken as we drive down Boulevard road with the view of Dal Lake on the left hand side. The Road gets very scenic as you go past the main Shikara gates. The video gives you an idea of the scenic beauty of Kashmir. This is also the road to go to the popular Mughal Gardens of Srinagar. Driving along the outskirts of Srinagar is a delight in itself. Day trips to Srinagar to Pahalgam and Gulmarg are popular destinations.
