Planning your India vacation tips • Unbiased Reviews . . . It is not uncommon these days to hear of frustrating experiences of visitors who book tour packages from various tour operators in India. Top class hotels and car services are sometimes promised at the time of booking and tourists sadly discover that the photographs of hotels shown were simply doctored and the hotels are either in remote areas or not up to the standard expected by them. How accurate are Tripadvisor reviews?  The majority of hotel and tour packages are made in India through booking portals such as Make My Trip, Cleartrip, Expedia, Yatra.com, travel guru etc. There is also the option of making hotel reservations in India directly by contacting hotels. However many foreign tourists visiting India may not know enough about a particular hotel and need advice on selecting suitable hotels. When using on-line booking methods, tourists have to rely on their own instinct and make choices based on websites or perhaps hotel reviews posted on the Internet on sites such as Trip Advisor. However, sometimes fake reviews posted to attract or perhaps discourage people from going to a competitors hotel. When deciding on hotels based on Internet reviews, try and filter out the fake reviews before deciding on hotels to book. Ignore reviews where the poster has perhaps only one review and that also of a particular hotel only.

How accurate are Tripadvisor Reviews?

A large number of tourists visiting India, read Tripadvisor reviews before deciding on the hotel where they can stay at. However, not all Tripadvisor reviews are genuine and fake reviews are quite often posted, this gives some hotels an unfair advantage. I plan to post unbiased reviews of the hotels I will be staying at during my visit to India.

Ranked #25 of 80 hotels in Jaisalmer by Tripadvisor Hotel Booking through an travel agent Making hotel reservations through a travel agent has its advantages because instead of deciding solely based on photographs posted on-line, you can actually speak to a representative and get travel advice free! For my Kerala visit, I have already made reservations to travel on the Konkan Railway route from Mumbai to Cochin (Kochi). I still had to get hotel reservations in the places I wanted to visit in Kerala and also a rent a car for the duration of my trip. I decided to try Make My Trip and visited their office in Delhi to try and make hotel and taxi reservation. While Make My Trip representative did give me prices of some hotels with car and driver, I made changes to what they suggested. Changing the hotels by checking reviews, and opted for a bigger car. While hotel prices were in line with what is offered by other hotel booking portals in India, I found car rental prices offered by Make My Trip on the higher side. Continued on Next Page: >>
