Indian beach holidays - Beaches in Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu state is on the southern tip of the Indian peninsula and is bordered by the Bay of Bengal in the east, Indian Ocean in the south, the states of Kerala and Karnataka in the west, and Andhra Pradesh in the North. Tamil is the main language spoken here but tourists can rest assured English is also widely spoken and understood. Tamil Nadu is the sixth most populous state in the Indian Union and is a leading producer of Agricultural products. Marina Beach

Marina beach is said to be the longest beach not only India but all of Asia. The beach is 12 kilometers in length. Marina beach is located on the eastern side of Chennai, adjoining the Bay of Bengal. Visitors find watching the sun set and rise from the beach is a fascinating experience. Several visitors make it a point to visit very early in the morning to see the sunrise over the water. The undercurrent here is said to be quite strong and swimming is discouraged. People however do swim here.   The beach becomes a fair ground in the evenings with people visiting to enjoy the cool sea air and visit the various food stalls that are around the beach walk areas.   There is also a popular aquarium nearby to the beach.   Chennai (formerly Madras) has an airport and is well connected to all parts of India. The best time to visit is November to February.

Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari is a unique because it's surrounded by three seas, Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. A major beach attraction, which the tourists can observe over here, is the breathtaking view of the sunrise and the sunset at their best. It is said that in the month of April when there is a full moon. It is possible to enjoy the rare experience of seeing the sunset and the moonrise over the ocean simultaneously. Although the beach is a beautiful sight the sea shore is rocky and dangerous. Swimming or Sunbathing is not possible here but the beach is very scenic and for the photographers wanting shots of sunsets this is an ideal location. The best time to visit is October to April. The nearest airport is at Thiruvananthapuram (approximately) 85 kilometers away.

Covelong Beach

Away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded Chennai city is Covelong beach. This beach provides a nice breathing space and offers numerous activities such as fishing.   The sea and surf are gentle here and gives visitors a chance to enjoy activities like windsurfing, swimming and other water sports.   The nearest airport is Chennai approximately 60 kilometers away from Covelong.
